Comets see rainy weather, bad times at Tipton by Sara Sedlacek · September 17, 2008 The Comet runners left Tipton last Tuesday, Sept. 9, a little worse off than when they came, adding to their times instead of taking away.
Dylan Hillyer was, once again, leader of the West Liberty pack, finishing the 5K race 47th in 19:27.60. Oscar Maldonado followed, though not too close behind, finishing 76th in 20:13.68. Josh Snider, Ethan Harvey, Paul Sanchez, Jorge Rivera and Eric Adams all finished 104th or higher in more than 21 minutes.
“It was definitely a setback meet,” said Coach Mike Czarnecki. “We struggled a little bit with times.”
Czarnecki said last week’s practices were a little more focused after Tuesday, though.
“We worked on improving the second and third mile times,” he said. “We need to stay consistent with times. Some of these guys started with six-minute miles and ended up with eight and a half minute miles.”
The Comets hosted the West Liberty Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 16. Next week the runners will have back-to-back away meets at the Solon Invitational Monday, Sept. 22, and the Mt. Pleasant Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 23. |
