Graduation ceremony Sunday

Graduation ceremonies for the West Liberty High School class of 2009 will be this Sunday, May 24, at 1 p.m. in the West Liberty High School gymnasium.

The gym will fill up quickly so make sure to arrive early to guarantee a seat.

Also, the West Liberty Ministerial Association welcomes the public to this year’s Baccalaureate Service honoring this year’s West Liberty High School graduates, Thursday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nichols.

The speaker this year is Marv Cook. Marv graduated from West Branch High School. He then attended the University of Iowa where he played football all four years. He was a Consensus All American in 1988. He was a two time All Big Ten Player and an Academic All Big Ten Player. In 1989. The New England Patriots drafted Marv to play for them. Twice he earned All-Pro status as a tight end for the Patriots. Marv currently lives in Iowa City with his wife and three children. He coaches High School Football at Iowa City Regina as well as working in the financial service industry. The public is invited to celebrate the graduates and listen to Marv Cook.
