Richard Shield

Richard Shield of rural Atalissa will celebrate his 90th birthday at an open house on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the West Liberty Country Club. The open house will be hosted by his sons, family and grandchildren.

Richard was born Oct. 22, 1919, the son of Lloyd and Eunice Shield.

He married Anna Mae Herlein Nov. 25, 1942, at First Baptist Church in Muscatine. The couple had five sons, Steve, Dave and Dan and two deceased sons, James and Robert. There are seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Richard farmed his entire life in Muscatine county.

Friends and family are invited to the open house. No gifts please.
