Wapsie Legends 4-H Club holds September meeting The Wapsie Legends 4-H Club met September 27, 2009 at the First Church United in West Liberty. 18 members were present.
The meeting was called to order by President Luke Seele. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Faith McKillip. Ella Hambright gave the Secretary’s report and Peter Seele gave the Treasurer’s report. Caleb Anderson made a motion to pay the bills submitted and Faith McKillip seconded the motion.
In old business many members reported on their experiences at the Muscatine County Fair in July. The leaders praised the members for all of their accomplishments at the fair. Caleb Anderson reported on his experience giving his educational presentation at the Iowa State Fair in August.
For new business members discussed activities for National 4-H Week that will be October 4-10. The members decided to make posters promoting 4-H Week to hang at the schools and stores in West Liberty. David McMahon offered to have 4-H information fliers at the library in West Liberty. The members then signed up to be on committees for the events they voted on at the August kick-off event. The committees are: Recreation, Family/Awards Event, Fun(Go-Karts and Horse Riding), Community Service(Toys for Humane Society and BINGO at the local nursing home), and Fundraising. The new club officers were then elected and they are as follows: President, Luke Seele; Vice President, Ella Hambright; Secretary, Jazmyn Partida; Treasurer, Caleb Anderson; Reporter, Faith McKillip; Historian, Sarah Seele; and Photographer, Hailey Kaufman.
The 4-H pledge was led by Ella Hambright. Peter Seele made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Ella Hambright seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned by Luke Seele.
The members filled out enrollment forms for their project areas for the new 4-H year.
The next meeting will be the Family/Awards Event on Sunday, October 25 at the First Church United in West Liberty. The event will start at 3:00pm. The 4-H County Recognition Night will be Sunday, November 1 at the Muscatine High School in Muscatine at 5:30pm. Please fill out and send in your family’s reservations and payment for the meal. The form is in the October Clover Express.
