Fair parade continues to get bigger, better
by Lindsay Hoeppner · July 20, 2010

Sweltering heat didn’t keep Muscatine County residents at home on Sunday.

Rather, this year’s Muscatine County Fair Parade was one of the largest to ever usher in West Liberty’s most decorated annual event — the Muscatine County Fair.

According to long-time parade organizer Pat Farlinger, this year’s parade had nearly 183 entries — up 14 from last year’s 169.

“We thought last year’s parade was pretty big, but a lot turned out again this year despite the heat,” she said. “We were really pleased.”

Hundreds of people lined the streets of West Liberty to watch the parade before heading to the annual Picnic in the Park, officially welcoming fair week.
