The Nichols October Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Memorial Park.
As in previous years, the park will be fenced in and freewill donations will be collected at the gate. All proceeds will help support community projects for Nichols.
Members of the Nichols Betterment Committee will host the festival. The schedule will include:
• 8 a.m. -- 5K Nicholback run. Sign-up will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Nichols Ag parking lot.
• 9:30 a.m. -- parking for the tractor show begins.
• 10 a.m. -- The Corn Hole Tournament signup starts at the Nichols Fire Station.
Also, there will be a kiddie tractor pull hosted by the Lion’s Club.
The Jumpy Bumpy Tent will be sponsored by Graphic Printing & Design of Iowa City.
Family games for kids will include egg toss, plank races and Simon says.
Music will be supplied by DJ—Tzeer Entertainment.
Refreshments provided by the Nichols Volunteer Fire Dept. and food and treats will be provided by the Nichols Christian Church.
The annual fall auction at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Lone Tree will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion Hall on Sunday.
Anyone who has good used items (except for clothing) is asked to donate them from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at the church hall. Auction items can be brought to the Legion on Saturday.
The Silent Auction will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Lunch will be served beginning at 11 a.m. The regular auction will follow at 1 p.m.
