Daniel E. Stalkfleet, 59, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at his home. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services with Peggy Nelson officiating. Following the service, a time of food and fellowship was held at the Muscatine American Legion Post #27. Visitation for Daniel was held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Danielís name. Daniel Eugene Stalkfleet was born on March 5, 1953, in Muscatine, the son of Lee Robert and Bernice Augusta (McKillip) Stalkfleet. On July 16, 1999, Daniel was united in marriage to Lorena M. Sammon in Muscatine. Daniel retired from Heinz Inc. after 36 years. He was a member of the Muscatine American Legion where he served as Sgt. of Arms and also the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed motorcycles, sports, NASCAR, the Iowa Hawkeyes and spending time with his family and friends.
Daniel will be deeply missed by his wife, Lorena of Muscatine; children, Mike Stalkfleet and wife, Missy of Le Claire, Amber Hazen and husband, Joe of Illinois City, and Justin Sammon and wife, Chrissy, Jessica Crowe and Curtis Bundy all of Muscatine; 14 grandchildren; his mother, Bernice Stalkfleet of Muscatine; brother, Rick Stalkfleet and wife, Kathy of Chicago; sisters, Vicki King of Ellsworth, Christine Shotwell of West Branch and Pamela Stalkfleet of Iowa City; and many nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father; niece, Deanna; and brother-in-law, John King.
