Advertisement Arby’s criticizes West Liberty Foods

It wasn’t exactly Clara Peller – the little old lady in those infamous 1980s commercials, hollering: “Where’s the beef.”

But plenty of Iowans, including many West Liberty Foods employees, had a beef with a new Arby’s commercial, “Slicing up the truth about freshness.”

 In its original version, which has since been revised, Bo Dietl, a private investigator in New York, criticized Iowa and the Subway restaurant chain. He also knocked West Liberty Foods even though the company wasn’t named in the commercial. It pointed out that meat served at many Subway restaurants is sliced at the West Liberty Foods plant in Mount Pleasant.
