Spikers going for tourney title

By Norv and Mary Coblentz · Wednesday, October 17, 2012
The Comets defeated a much-improved Regina team in the Cedar Valley Conference tournament semi-final game at West Liberty on Monday in three games. Scores were 25-18, 25-22, 25-21. With the win and West Branch’s win over North Cedar Monday, a rematch of the conference title game has been set up. The Comets will face the Bears at West Branch Thursday for the CVC tourney title. The Bears hold the conference title for this season.

Set one was the easiest for the Comets, who took off after a 4-4 tie, helped by 11 Regina errors in the set. Kennedi Simon had three kills in the set, and Kristi Feldman and Sydney Warson each had two. The final three points came on a kill by Warson on the line, Regina’s failure to return the ball, and an ace by Feldman.
