Sara sounds off|
I am Sara Sedlacek and I am running to be your Representative in Iowa’s House District 88.
I grew up in a small Eastern Iowa town just like yours. A good day when I was growing up was spent riding bikes with my little sister to my grandma’s house up the street. My husband, Rob, and I believed in rural Iowa so much we decided to start a business in West Liberty and make our home here. Like you, we believe in the values that make small towns the backbone of this state.
I worked in both the Iowa Senate and the Iowa House and, unfortunately, I found that rural Iowa lacks partners in Des Moines. The fact is, too many rural Iowans never even see the folks they send to the Capitol, much less get to share their ideas.
I’m running for the Iowa House to change that.
To make rural Iowa prosper, we need property tax policies that don’t kill our small communities. We need to ensure we aren’t burdening our small, Main Street businesses with antiquated regulations.
We also need to link the jobs of tomorrow with a skilled workforce that’s second to none and an educational system that is fully-funded and prepared to teach the skills Iowans need to compete in a 21st century economy.
We can work together to keep the commitments every generation of Iowans has made to each other. I want to make sure our children start their journey as healthy as possible, and our grandparents live active lives in the small towns they helped to build.
Finally, I will do everything in my power to honor Iowa’s veterans by providing every possible resource to help to retrain our returning heroes and care for those who have given their service.
Iowans don’t want big government. They want a legislature that works together to accomplish the common goals we know are necessary so that everyone has the opportunity to pursue their dreams, whether it be on a tractor in Louisa County or in a classroom in Danville.
I am Sara Sedlacek and I want to stand up for you in Des Moines. I ask for your vote on Nov. 6.
