Last week, Giri’s BP gas station along North Columbus Street in West Liberty was demolished. Currently, heavy machinery and construction crews are at the property digging holes to lay electrical wire and install new gas pumps. Owner Deepak Giri said the new pumps should be up and ready for fills around Thanksgiving.
“Right now they are putting in the footing for the pumps and the canopy,” Giri said. “All the electrical and footing will be done this weekend. We are pouring the concrete in next week. I am hoping a week from this coming Friday we will be open.”
Giri said plans for a new building have been two years in the making. His main goal was to open a place that offered food.
