During the West Liberty City Council meeting held on the evening of Nov. 6, council members discussed the creation of a new city clerk position at city hall. An advertisement went out in October seeking interested parties. Chris Ward, who works as the city manger clerk, said he has been taking on duties as clerk.
“The difference is this person will actually be the city clerk, rather than me,” he said.
The creation the city clerk position is in conjunction with the upcoming retirement of Deputy City Clerk Karen Thurness, who has worked for the city of West Liberty for more than 30 years.
