Jessica Arlene Jacobson, 27, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at her home in McGregor. Jessica was born on July 25, 1985, in La Crosse, Wis., to Alvin Jacobson and Joan Betthauser. She graduated from MFL Mar-Mac High School in 2003 and NEICC in Calmar with her nursing degree. She was enrolled at Viterbo College in La Crosse, studying for her bachelor of science in nursing. Jessica was currently working as a nurse at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wis., and part-time as a nurse at the Guttenberg Hospital. She will be deeply missed by the many family and friends that knew her. Jessica enjoyed spending time with her friends, her family and animals, fishing on the river, hiking, camping and canoeing.
Survivors include her mother, Joan Betthauser, West Liberty; one brother, Brandon Betthauser, McGregor; one niece, Hailey Rosa, McGregor; paternal grandmother, Arlene Jacobson, New Albin; maternal grandfather, Gerald Betthauser, Whitehall, Wis. and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.
Jessica was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Jacobson, on November 7, 2009; her paternal grandfather, Victor Jacobson and her maternal grandmother, Janet Betthauser.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.
Visitation was held from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Thornburg Grau Funeral Home and the cremation service of McGregor was held on Monday.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the First Congregational Church in McGregor, with the Rev. William Gentry officiating, with military honors.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
