Iowa Dept. of Education to visit West Liberty|

The Iowa Department of Education will conduct a comprehensive site visit on Dec. 4 in West Liberty. They will examine documents and interview various groups of staff and community members. The comprehensive site visit occurs once every five years.
West Liberty High School will hold parent-teacher conferences from 4 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 5.

The tornado safe room is finished. The final inspection will happen in the next few weeks. The West Liberty Booster Club has organized a fundraising project to equip the new weight room. For details, see the letter at the school website, wl.k12.ia.us.
The new playground at West Liberty Early Learning Center is scheduled to be installed very soon.
At the most recent school board meeting, the board approved the issuance of bid documents for an air conditioning project at the elementary school.
District enrollment for grades K-12 (number of students served) is down by 34 students compared to last year. But the number of students in pre-Kindergarten increased by 16 students.
The University of Iowa Mobile Clinic was well attended on Oct. 27, in the middle school cafeteria. Many took advantage of the free flu shots.
