Every year the Voluntary Action Council gives back to the community by collecting food baskets, toys for children 12-years-old and younger and Goodwill clothing vouchers. This year the council is anticipating a much greater need than last year. Planning began last fall when the representatives of all the churches in West Liberty, Atalissa, and Nichols, and the clubs, schools, and other community organizations met.
Applications are distributed to all the churches, West Liberty City Hall, West Liberty Chamber of Commerce, West Liberty Public Library, the Head Start program, Globe Loan, West Liberty community school district and Farmers & Merchants Savings Bank in Nichols.
