School board officials are working with bidders to seal a new air conditioning installation deal for the West Liberty Elementary building.

According to Superintendent Steve Hanson, the project will include installing air conditioners in the classrooms on the eastern half of the building.

“That part heats up the most because they get sun all day from sunrise to about 1 p.m.,” Hanson said.

Principal Nancy Gardner said after a hot day its impossible to cool down the school at night which leaves students beginning the following day in an uncomfortably hot building. “It can be difficult for both staff and students to focus on learning when the heat and humidity are so high,” she said.
