John E. Ford, 89, of New Boston, Ill., died on Tuesday, Jan. 1, at his home.
He was born May 8, 1923, to Daniel and Ammitte (Proctor) Ford in Cedar County. He married Joyleen I. Lueth on Sept. 9, 1956, in Durant. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2012.
John worked for Glen Phelps in Atalissa for many years.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughters: Diana Ford of Leads, Ala. and Jody Ford of New Boston; his sons: Jim Ford of New Boston, Jeff and his wife Candy Ford of Moscow and John and his wife Carolyn Ford of Wilton; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one on the way and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, his wife, his son and daughter-in-law Joe and Darlene Ford, two grandchildren Matthew and Jake Ford and his brothers Daniel and David Ford.
A memorial gathering and luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, at the United Steelworker’s Union hall in Wilton.
Internment will take place at the Overman Cemetery in Atalissa at a later date.
