Terry Lynn Meder, 65, died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, after a fight with cancer surrounded by his family at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born January 2, 1947, in Tipton, the son of Arnold and Liala Cocking Meder. He was a graduate of West Branch High School in the Class of 1965. On October 16, 1965, he was married to the former Mary Ann Thomas at the Downey Baptist Church. For several years he had managed the Skelly Truck Stop in West Branch and later worked as a Tank Wagon Operator for Harney Oil Company in Coralville for 30 years.
He enjoyed John Deere Tractors, camping, fishing, vacations to Colorado, nature, hummingbirds, his cats, flea markets, antique stores, and loved to laugh. He was a people person; loved meeting people, making new friends and seeing old friends.
Surviors include his wife Mary Ann Meder of West Branch. Three daughters: Toni (Tim Weiland) Meder of Chicago, Ill., Dana Meder of Chicago, and Stephanie (Grant) Lientz of Iowa City. Three grandchildren: Avery, Owen and Finn Weiland. Brother: Thomas (Twila) Meder of North Liberty and three sisters: Patricia (Richard) Roberts of Springfield, Mo., Mary (Allen) Copeland of St. James, Mo. and Kathleen Meder of Hills. Two half sisters: Marian Kimball and Grace Corwin both of Boulder, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 29 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Burial will be in the Memory Garden Cemetery, Iowa City.
