Comets fall short to Regina at home|

The West Liberty Comets boys’ basketball team lost a close contest to Regina at West Liberty Jan. 8. The final score was 67-63.
“It’s a tough conference,” West Liberty Head Coach James Laughlin said. “We knew that Regina had some good player. I didn’t think we came out with the same intensity we came out with Friday night at Mid-Prairie, and that really hurt.”
The Regals scored the first on a drive to the basket. Brett Becker dished to Carl Guardado, who scored the first West Liberty points of the game. Becker got a defensive board and Guardado a putback basket for a 4-2 Comets lead. Regina traveled, then Kyle Miller was fouled on a shot. He hit the first of two free throws for a 5-2 West Branch lead. Regina scored the next five points on a jump shot and a three-pointer, taking a 7-5 lead at the 3:15 mark. Two free throws...
