After a couple weeks of warmer than usual weather, winter hit full-force sending sub-zero temperatures across the Midwest.
The only warmth on Monday sadly came in the form of a fire that destroyed the indoor firing range at the West Liberty Gun Club.
We’re proud of our volunteer fire department. Its members responded quickly, making it to the fire within minutes of it being reported. We’re also happy to know the West Branch and Atalissa fire departments were on the scene almost as quickly, lending a hand at battling the blaze.
Members of the club should not despair; club president David Kelzenberg believes the facility will be rebuilt. We should also mention that none of the exterior buildings were harmed by the fire and the outdoor ranges remain in working order though the club may be closed for a while.
While gun owners nationwide may be facing a few setbacks in the coming months, it’s too bad that local gun owners will be doubly affected.
