Dr. John Francis Krob, DVM, 83, of Tipton, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born on Sept. 23, 1929, in Johnson County. He was the son of Milo Joseph and Mayme Elizabeth Murphy Krob. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. On Aug. 21, 1951, John was united in marriage to Carolyn Jean Rourke in Oxford. He practiced veterinary medicine at the Tipton Veterinary Clinic for 38 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tipton Lion’s, IVMA, Moose Lodge, Tipton Golf & Country Club, past president of IVMA District 21 and a member of Delta Tau Delta.
John is loved and survived by his wife, Carolyn Krob, of Tipton; daughters, Cherrie (Robert) Schmidt of Clarence, Mollie (Kevin) Fisher of Mechanicsville, and Jonie (Philip) Hook of Vermillion, S.D.; sons, Maury (Jan) Krob, Larry Krob and Douglas (Teresa) Krob, all of Tipton; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn (Morrie) Pitlick of Oxford. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gene Krob.
Visitation was held on Feb. 3 at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services were held on Feb. 4 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tipton, with Father Ed Dunn and Father David Hitch officiating.
