Marjorie G. Purdy, 86, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at her home.
Marjorie Gertrude McConnaha was born on May 13, 1926, in Muscatine, the daughter of Clarence H. and Nellie M. (Reed) McConnaha.
On May 2, 1947, Marjorie was united in marriage to Calvin D. Purdy in Muscatine. She had worked several years at the Elks Lodge and was a member of Spangler United Methodist Church and the Women of the Moose. Marjorie enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions, her cats, flower gardening and making homemade noodles for her family.
Marjorie will be deeply missed by her sons, Michael Purdy and wife, Barbara of West Liberty and Preston Purdy of Muscatine; daughter-in-law Patty Searcy of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph McConnaha and wife, Dorothy of Keystone Heights, Fla; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Patrick, brother Floyd McConnaha and sister Dorothy Jackson.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 8 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment was in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship was held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. Visitation was held on Feb. 7 at the funeral home.
