Good times at 175th|
This year’s observance of our city’s 175th birthday already has had a good response to activities and programs. More exciting events are planned and we expect hundreds of visitors. Spring and summer events include tree plantings, Manzanillo Dancers, a Louis Rich employees reunion, West Liberty Foods downtown turkey feed, Cinco de Mayo celebration, antique car show, tractorcade and school alumni reunion.
As one would in our own home, we hope to present our city in an appealing light. This is a good time to take a look with “new eyes” at our homes and businesses. We would like to encourage members of the business community, various community organizations, school groups, homeowners and individuals to become involved in a West Liberty cleanup campaign during the month of April. Are there some unsightly items that can be put away or hauled to the dump? Is a fresh coat of paint needed? Are there some spots where flowers could be planted? Did you know that West Liberty was at one time designated the city of petunias? Let us take pride in our community and work together to make it shine all year long.
