Tracksters place at Washington Demon

The West Liberty boys’ track and field team participated in the Washington Demon Indoor meet March 6 at the University of Iowa. Senior Ty Williams got two fifth place finishes for the Comets.

Williams ran the 60m dash preliminaries in 7.22, qualifying for the finals with his 10th place finish. In the finals, Williams was fifth, also in 7.22. Riley Anderson ran the preliminaries in 7.90 for 75th place.

In the 200m dash, Troy Heick finished 36th in 25.15. Anderson was 71st in 25.92.

Betito Castaneda ran the 800m run in 2:36.43 for 67th place. In the 1600m run, Austin Goddard was 71st and Marco Tena 79th with times of 5:48.61 and 6:06.68, respectively.

Daniel Jacques ran the 60m hurdles preliminaries in 8.99 for 19th place.

Anderson, Jacques, Evan Dalton, and Williams ran the 4x400 in 3:57.38 for 38th place.

In the 4x800, Castaneda, Tena, Goddard, and Elliott Henderson finished in 10:06.72 for 43rd place.

Nick Boehme, Heick, Cooper Koenig, and Henderson finished 20th in the Sprint Medley with a time of 4:05.24.

In the field events, Williams placed fifth in the high jump with a jump of 6-00.00.

In the Shot Put preliminaries, Tyler Newsom put the shot 43-07.00 for 17th place. Boehme was 52nd, putting the shot 38-06.00. Tyler Lyon put the shot 35-06.00 for 65th place.
