Walter Russell VanDusen, 68, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
W. Russell VanDusen was born April 8, 1945, in Davenport, the son of Floyd and Mary Molitor VanDusen. He served in the United States Marines from 1962 until 1965. On Aug. 18, 1979, he was united in marriage to Barbara Goodale in Atalissa. Russell had been employed with Mid-American Pipeline for 26 years and the City of West Liberty for the last 8 years.
He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of West Liberty; four children, Wendy (Craig) Askam of Muscatine, Julie (Amy) VanDusen of Bettendorf, Joseph (Terra) VanDusen of West Liberty, and Robert (Sarah) VanDusen of Wilton; 10 grandchildren, Maggy, Kate, Jacob, Megan, J.J., Taylor, Tracie, Wyatt, Andrew and Juliana.; three brothers, Jim VanDusen of Grandview, Joe (Sheila) VanDusen of Atalissa and Donovan VanDusen of Atalissa; three sisters, Judy Whittaker of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Joann (Rick) Meade of West Liberty and Joan (Jaime) McMichael of Atalissa. He is also survived by a sister in law, Sandra VanDusen of Atalissa and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Lloyd.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the West Liberty Community Center, 1204 N. Calhoun St. Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial with Military Honors will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.
