Nell Maurer, 90, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.
Nell was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Wilton, the daughter of Everett and Nola Reynolds Rorick. She graduated from Wilton High School and attended AIC Business College. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Widner who died in World War II. She later married Wayne Maurer on July 1, 1945, in Davenport. They owned and operated a greenhouse in West Liberty for a period of time.
She was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
Nell is survived by her sons, Craig (Donna) Maurer of West Liberty and Rick (Sue) Maurer of West Liberty; daughter, Gloria (Mike) Martensen of Lisbon; grandchildren, Nicki (Ed) Green, Timothy (JoAnn) Maurer, Jenifer (Zach) Weaver, Christopher (Tara) Maurer, Ericka (Thad) Hoover, Simon Maurer and friend, Krista, Travis (Breona) Maurer, Courtney Maurer, Janel (Zach) Tyler, Michele (Julio) Galvan and Marla (Aaron) Griffith. She is also survived by 31 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, sons, Wayne and Charles, brothers, Lester, Kenneth, Everett and sister, Nola.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty.
