The West Liberty volleyball team spent last week on the road, beating Camanche on Oct. 3 and winning two of four at the Western Dubuque Tournament in Epworth, Oct. 5.
At Camanche, the Comets won in four sets: 25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 25-15.
"It was a nice effort by all," West Liberty Head Coach Ruben Galvan said. "All the kids had a good night from our serving to defense. Our defense especially stepped it up, and when our defense is on, our offense is going to have a better chance of putting the ball down."
"We had some kids with a lot of kills," he added. "Hailey Daufeldt had 21 kills, and (Audra) Bridenstine had 13 kills, and Cassedi (Simon) had 14 kills, so we were just mixing it up, and it was a good effort. We served tough, a high percentage of serves, so it was a good night."
Merideth Nichols had six kills in the winning effort while Elyse Buysse and Kayla Kaalberg had three kills each.
Molly Kelly served 25-25 with two aces. Daufeldt was 13-15 serving with three aces. Maddie Simon served 14-16 with an ace. Erika Bannavong was 13-15 serving, Kaalberg was 11-12, Summer Kopet was 2-2 and C. Simon was 10-10.
