Members of the West Liberty Fire Department and the 175th Anniversary Committee hosted a slide show and round table discussion Monday night at the Community Center.
The presentation was an opportunity for the community to learn the history of the town's volunteer fire department and where it's headed.
Larry Miller lead the slide show, followed by a round table discussion with four previous WL fire chiefs. They shared stories ranging from comedic banter between previous firemen to a large ammonia leak in West Liberty in 2004.
There was also a brief discussion concerning the construction of the EMS addition to the fire department, which is expected to cost around $300,000 to $350,000.
Fire Department Member Kurt Sickels said about half of that has been raised partly through donations, and he plans to continue fundraising until the need is completely met.
