Eldon “Bee” Westfall, 83, of Lone Tree, died on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Eldon Steyn Westfall was born on Jan. 5, 1930, in rural Conesville, the son of Steyn and Dorothy (Rife) Westfall. He was a graduate of Lone Tree High School. Eldon served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953.
On February 14, 1955, Eldon was united in marriage to Madonna Bleadorn in Muscatine. Eldon was a farmer in the Lone Tree area his entire life. He was a member of the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457 and the Lone Tree Card Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, watching T.V. with popcorn, and was an avid Hawkeye fan, but most of all, Eldon dearly loved to spend time with his family.
Eldon is survived by his wife Donna of Lone Tree; children, Lori Gosenberg and husband, Charles “Gosie” of West Liberty, Kevin Westfall and wife Deb of Lone Tree, Lynn Bell and husband Kevin of Lone Tree, Lisa Forbes and husband Kevin of Lone Tree, Leigh Miller and husband Ken of Kalona and Kelli Warnstaff and husband Bill of Lone Tree; 13 grandchildren, Todd Forbes and wife Shelly, Michelle Daufeldt and husband Matt, Nicole Polito and husband Ed, Amber McCullough and husband Donny, Seth Westfall and fiancee Tanya Smith, Sarah Pourroy and friend Mike Close, Chad Bell and wife Nicki, Justin Bell and wife Gwen, Misty Forbes, Angie Kemp and husband Nick, Tara Parizek and husband John, Drew Sides and Dane Warnstaff; 25 great-grandchildren; Tanner, Taylor, Hailey, Spencer, Macy, Bristol, Becker, Baylea, Bryson, Tyler, Madelyn, Addison, Carter, Kort, McKenna, Lila, Sophie, Sienna, Lincoln, Ava, Paxton, Rylee, C.J., Gavin and Bella; one brother, Loren “Tootie” Westfall of Lone Tree.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gene and two sisters, Janet Rourke and Marilyn “Peg” Spears.
Funeral services for Eldon will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Lone Tree American Legion. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery with full military services provided by the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457. Casketbearers will be Todd Forbes, Seth Westfall, Chad Bell, Justin Bell, Misty Forbes, Drew Sides and Dane Warnstaff.
Following services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. Visitation for Eldon was held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 4-7 p.m. at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree.
