Advertisement 7th grade girls struggle on the road


It's been a long week on the road for the 7th grade girls' basketball team.

As of Thanksgiving, the team has played four games in five school days, three occurring on the road.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19, the girls traveled to Tipton, unfortunately both the A and B team took losses against a difficult team.

The final A team score was 15-55 while the B team score was 2-40. During the A game, Macy Akers scored 14 points and had three steals; Parker Werling had 1 point, 1 rebound and 1 steal.

During the B game, Nexia Melchor had the lone 2 points in with 2 steals. Michelle Torres also had 2 steals, Ivania Palma 2 rebounds and 2 steals, Angey Sanchez 1/0, Airm Quiroz 0/1 and Skylar Wendt 1/2.

On Nov. 21 the girls traveled to Regina. The Regals pulled away from the A team in the fourth quarter for a 33-17 win.

Akers again paced her team with 15 points, 9 coming from 3 point shots. She also had 1 rebound and 3 steals.

Dalton contributed 2/0/1, Schneider 0/4/1, Melchor 0/1/1, Werling 0/1/1, Baca 0/2/4 and Quiroz 0/1/0.

The B team lost 4-40. Torres was 0/0/0, Melchor 0/1/0, Palma 0/0/0, Baca 2/1/0, Sanchez 0/0/0, Quiroz 0/1/0 and Wendt 2/6/1.

Coach Goos is pleased with the progress Skylar Wendt is making on the B team. She is starting to become more offensive minded and aggressive on the boards.
