|8th grade girls keep winning|
The eighth grade girls' basketball A-team played at home against Durant after Thanksgiving break. With seven different Comets scoring they took the victory 55-5, now 8-1 for the season.
In the first half, West Liberty played well on both sides of the ball taking a 28-1 lead. In the second half, Durant continued to struggle with a short bench while the Comets were able to get several bench players into the game.
Tatum Koenig led the team with 21 points (4 steals, 5 rebounds) while teammates contributed with the following: Sarah Seele, 10 points (6 steals, 2 rebs); Zoey Boehme, 8 points (4 rebs, 3 steals); Brianna Morales, 6 points (3 steals, 4 rebs); Emma Martin, 4 points (2 steals); Josie Jimenez, 2 points (2 steals); Brookelyn Harned, 2 points (2 rebs, 2 steals); Mariela Filerio (3 rebs).
The eighth grade girls' basketball B-team played against several Durant starters for only a half game. The Comets made a team effort on both offensively and defensively, taking the victory 12-4. The B-team is 7-2 for the season.
Josie Jimenez led the team with 6 points (2 steals); Brookelyn Harned, 2 points (1 steal); Sihisla Puentes, 2 points; Mariela Filerio, 2 points; Emma Martin (1 reb, 2 steals); Nikita Biesler (2 rebs); Kiana Samaniego (1 reb); Briana Lozano (1 steal).
West Liberty has three games left in the season and will play Wilton at home Thursday.
