Suzanne Edith Wilson, 74, died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.
Suzanne was born July 23, 1939, in Marshall, Minnesota, the daughter of Adrian and Janice Flynn Wilson. In 1942, they returned to West Liberty to operate the Wilson family farm. She graduated from West Liberty High School in 1957 and attended the University of Iowa. In 1960 she moved out west where she became a stewardess for United, and then Hughes Air-West airlines, ultimately settling in Seattle to raise her family. After 21 years in the airline industry she moved back to West Liberty in 1986 to care for her parents. She became an upholsterer and made that her livelihood both in West Liberty and in Seattle when she and her mother moved back west in 1994. She had a great passion for genealogy and Iowa history and was one of the early members of the West Liberty Historical Society. She loved gardening, animals, reading and hiking the mountains, rainforests and beaches of the Pacific Northwest with her longtime canine companion Angel.
She is survived by three children; Carey Zebley of Lehi, Utah, Chuck Cotter (location unknown) and Stewart (Roberta) Hodge of West Liberty, 7 grandchildren; Matthew, Michael, Mallory, Michelle & Mitchell Zebley of Seattle, Washington, Morgan and Stewart Kaden Hodge of West Liberty; and her sister Barb (Phil) Wamba of Federal Way, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Van Kirk Wilson.
