Chad Simpson scored his first IMCA Late Model feature win of the 2014 season by topping a strong field of competitors in the West Liberty Raceway regular season opener on Saturday night, April 26.

Simpson shot out front from his outside front row start in the I-Wireless 25 lap main event and went on to hold off the late race challenges of Andy Eckrich. Eckrich was able to gain ground on Simpson, but racing with no brakes did not allow Eckrich to mount a serious challenge. Eckrich ran second ahead of Colby Springsteen.

Kurt Kile  took the opening night win in the very tough Performance Concepts IMCA Modified division. Kile was able to take the lead early in the 20 lap race, advancing from his fourth starting position. Chris Zogg advanced from deep in the field to run a very impressive race and took second.

Tony Olson from Cedar Rapids made his first visit to West Liberty on Saturday night and it was a good night for Olson as he took the checkers first in the Weikert Iron & Metal IMCA Sportmod feature. Aric Becker ran second to Olson.

The Kile Motorsports IMCA Stock  Car feature had a wild finish as two cars ended up not making it to the checkers due to a hard crash coming into the finish line. Brandon Jay won the battle to the line just ahead of Josh Woods.

Bobby Lake of Lone Tree scored his first ever feature win by topping the IMCA Sport Compact feature. Lake took the hard fought win ahead of Bill Whalen.
