Scales and Tails entered Ron-de-Voo Park on Thursday, July 10. The two part puppet show was presented by the Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre Company.
It showed off the company's summer showcase, made possible by MidwestOne Bank, Quad City Arts, West Liberty Foods and West Liberty State Bank.
Eulenspiegel, based out of West Liberty, is headed by Monica Leo. It specializes in all kinds of puppetry performances from kids to adults.
Most recently it has embarked upon a neighborhood tour, a show that can be brought to local neighborhoods around Iowa. However, Thursday's event brought the tour home and for free.
Scales and Tails covers two tales from Asia. The first, called the Monkey and the Crocodile, follows a lonely crocodile's search for friendship. It's performed by Justin Cornett-Olsson.
The show features a quirky sounds and dialogue, focusing on friendship.
The second play, called Li Chi Slays the Serpent, follows the brave journey of a girl that slays a dragon, performed by Angela Polowy.
She moves back and forth on the stage, presenting the dramatic story live in person and in puppet.
