The second annual Back 2 School Bash was a success on Saturday, Aug. 9, as West Liberty Community School District students, parents and teachers mingled in Kimberly Park.
The event was organized by the Parent/Teacher Organization and featured free food, inflatables and tons of games. The pool was open for a free swim while snow cones were sold.
The purpose was not only to kick off school, but help students and parents get to know the faculty from the district. A beautiful warm day greeted hundreds in the park.
The event also featured face painting, stick-on tattoos, a dunk tank, giant tic-tac-toe and shredded pork sandwiches from the West Liberty Boy Scouts.
This is the second year the PTO has attempted to pull off an event of this size to welcome students back to school.
School begins for grades 1-12 in WLCSD on Wednesday, Aug. 20, with a half day. The preschool and prekindergarten classes begin on Friday, Aug. 22.
