Tornado destroys Atalissa property second time in three years

Some people are made for volunteering and some people are not. Robynn and Jerry Anderson are definitely made for volunteering. Since 1988, the couple has volunteered in some capacity for 4-H in Muscatine county.

Foundation kicks off fundraising

The West Liberty School Foundation is gearing up for another fundraising season to help support the school district’s upcoming building projects. Using public input from the survey sent out in early April, the Foundation was able to choose the direction it would take in its fundraising efforts this year.

WLHS band takes a one at large group competition

On Saturday, May 3, the West Liberty Band and Choir went to Tipton to participate in the 2008 large group competition. The band received a one (on a scale of one to five; one being the highest); the choir received a high two.

In fact, they’re more likely to be the people bringing those projects out in the open and initiating action. That’s what they’ve always done and how they’ve always been and, from the looks of it, the way they’ll always be.

Grant provides help with literacy and character

Some West Elementary teachers are getting in a little over-time this semester thanks to a grant from the Iowa Department of Human Services. The grant, along with a donation from the Ryan Trust, has allowed teachers at West Elementary to create a program focusing on literacy, recreation and character building.
