Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre presents its 24th annual Puppets and Pastries: Dessert Theatre for adults, on Saturday, March 12, beginning at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 13, at 2 p.m.

Theatre director Monica Leo says its an opportunity for lovers of puppet theatre to see cutting edge puppetry directed towards adults while listening to music and savoring delectable desserts, including the Acapulco Bakery’s famous “tres leches” cake.

The event takes place at Owl Glass Puppetry Center, 319 North Calhoun in West Liberty. Eulenspiegel elves will transform the center into a softly lit bistro for the weekend. Tickets are $5 less if purchased in advance, but will also be available at the door and include desserts and beverages. Drink donations are appreciated.

All proceeds will help to support the Summer Neighborhood Tour, Eulenspiegel’s annual puppet show tour to parks, neighborhood centers, and low income neighborhoods.

Live music to be announced will also entertain guests and there will be a special guest appearance by Mary Swander, the angelic singing voice of Laura Kittrell, nostalgic poems by Duffy DeFrance, delicious desserts, beverages, and “laughter for an unforgettable evening,” Leo said.

Ticket pre-sales are encouraged due to limited space. Masks and proof of vaccination are required, and the space will be filled at half capacity because of the pandemic.
