Elect Joe for mayor

Posted

Hello, West Liberty. I am writing to you with the great hope that you will join me in voting for Joe Elizondo to serve as the next mayor of West Liberty.

Joe and I served together on the West Liberty City Council after I left my position as editor of the West Liberty Index in 2006. Together we learned a great deal about the inner workings of our city utilties, budgets and programming. Under the study of our esteemed colleague Bill Cline, we learned how to negotiate and make tough decisions. We learned how to consider the opinions of every single resident and prioritize what was best for the good of the community.

I’ve known Joe since we were kids in the West Liberty School District and his parents owned LaMexicana. I have always known him to be one of those people who would speak to anyone and treat everyone with respect. I know exactly who Joe Elizondo is and what type of mayor he would be.

We’ve gone too long with short-term city leaders who did not have our best interests in mind and did not recognize that our best assets are the people who care – from our volunteer firefighters and paramedics who keep us safe, to our city workers who possess the technical knowledge to keep our utilities reliable, to our police officers who take the time to get to know residents and provide service beyond their duties.

It's time to take our city back to its roots in good, honest, responsible leadership for all. It’s time for a leader who will guide us in the direction of fairness, transparency and stability. It’s time to elect Joe Elizondo mayor. Please join me in voting for Joe in the November 7 election.
