Leo G. Samuelson, 73, of Moscow, died Sunday, June 19, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Leo Gordon Samuelson was born Oct. 3, 1948, in Fairfield. He was the son of Victor and Bonnie (Harper) Samuelson. He graduated from Wilton High School with the Class of 1967.

Leo was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Eakes, of Iowa City, Feb. 26, 1966, in Iowa City.

Leo has been a truck driver most of his life. He retired from Daufeldt Transport after many years on the road.

Leo enjoyed a simple life, he like to travel, go to horses shows, spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his dog.

His is survived by his family includes his wife, Mary; their children, Jennifer Buysse (Rodney Cole), Jody Ellis (Scott), Jim Samuelson, and Susan Tyler (Larry).

Other survivors include six grandchildren: Brad Tyler, Amanda Conklin, Elyse and Elexa Buysse, Benjamin and Jacob Ellis; and four great-grandchildren Brady and MaKenna Tyler, Declan and Riddik Conklin; siblings, Vera Smith, Art Samuelson, Betty Lett and Keith Samuelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Victor Samuelson, Dennis Samuelson, Darlene Meck and Emma Jean Simmons.

A celebration of Leo’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 10, from 1 - 4 p.m., at the Wilton Community Center. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in his memory to St. Jude Research Hospital.
