Martin Sanchez

Martin Bueno Sanchez, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. A funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church, followed by burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home is caring for Martin and his family during this time.

Martin was born on Jan. 29, 1947, in Ignacio Allende, Durango, Mexico, to Alvino and Isabel (Sanchez) Bueno. On Dec. 26, 1975, he married Maria Gallegos in Ignacio Allende. Together, Martin and Maria moved to West Liberty in 1988 to make their home. 

Martin worked at Louis Rich Foods, in construction, and most recently at L.L. Pelling. 

In his younger years in Mexico, Martin enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and participated as a runner in many races. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria, of West Liberty; three daughters: Azeneth (Luis) Bueno Puentes of West Liberty, Romina (Rigoberto Rodarte) Bueno of Marengo, Ill., and Vaneza Bueno of West Liberty; and five grandchildren: Sihisla, Andre, Jazleen, Adrian, and Valerie. He is also survived by four siblings: Leonardo Bueno of Mexico, Amelia Ilmer of Germany, and Lourdes Bueno and Maria Isabel Bueno, both of Mexico.
