Clark advances to State Bee

On Sunday, Feb. 18, the Knights of Columbus held the regional spelling bee competition in Cedar Rapids. From West Liberty, seventh grader Georgie Clark has advanced to the state level.

Paola Acosta Rivera, Iver Dong and Alex Simon, sixth grade, and Daniel Seemuth and Jordan Escobedo, fifth grade, also competed in the regional spelling bee.

Students compete in MathCounts

On Thursday, Feb. 8, six eighth grade West Liberty students traveled to Muscatine to compete in MathCounts, a nationally recognized competitive mathematics program for middle school students.

The team placed third at the regional competition, representing West Liberty. The team consisted of Emmee Wiele, Avy Miller, Ethan Berry and Hazzam Garcia with alternates being Clara Simon and Mikaela Escobedo.
