Nichols Christian draws enthusiastic vacation bible school crowd

Posted

A large crowd attended the SCUBA Vacation Bible School program at the Nichols Christian Church on Aug. 4.   The children sang and danced to songs learned during the week.  Through an interactive conversation with Pastor Marcie Heil, the children shared the Bible stories and Bible verses discussed, as well as the joys of “diving into friendship with God.”  A delicious brunch was served to all guests following the program.

Twenty-eight children participated in this year’s VBS.  The kids enjoyed making crafts, playing outdoor games and eating snacks.  The children brought food and money each day to contribute toward the local West Liberty Food Pantry.  Several boxes of food and $212 were delivered.  The week ended with a swimming party at the Muscatine Aquatic Center on Friday afternoon.

Thank you to Lynn Pruitt and his assistant, Emily Daufeldt, who taught the Bible classes.  They brought the Bible stories to life using costumes, smells, sounds and motions.  Thanks to the Nichols Methodist church ladies who provided all the delicious snacks and drinks. And thanks to the West Liberty Christian Fellowship Church for the use of their material and supplies. We appreciate everyone who helped with planning, decorating and coordinating this fun adventure.  We look forward to seeing the children next year!
