El Salvador es un país hermoso en centroamerica y es conocido como la tierra de volcanes. Este país es la tierra natal de José y Ruth Alvarado.
La pareja es de la zona centro sur del país, son del departamento de La Paz en El Salvador.
La Paz es uno de los catorce departamentos que conforman la República de El Salvador. Su nombre etimológicamente en nahuat significa: “La morada de los pececitos” debido a sus hermosos manantiales de agua, como el Parque Acuático Ichanmichen. Su ciudad capital es Zacatecoluca, y su gente es conocida como "viroleños".
Recientemente, la familia Alvarado recibió la noticia que su hija mayor Amerie Alvarado fue seleccionada para recibir una beca del programa de National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) 2023-24.
El comité de selección cree que Amerie cumple con los desafíos de un riguroso programa de idiomas en el extranjero. NSLI-Y es un programa del Departamento de Estado de EE. UU.. Es administrado por los Consejos Estadounidenses para la Educación Internacional.
El programa proporciona estudios intensos de idiomas en el extranjero para estudiantes de secundaria de EE. UU. a través de becas que cubren todo (vuelo, hospedaje, y más). Es una gran oportunidad para que los jóvenes expandan su cosmovisión, aptitud cultural y habilidades lingüísticas.
La hija de José y Ruth estará participando en el programa de idioma árabe y su estadía sera en Rabat, Marruecos. Estará allí por seis semanas. Rabat es la capital de Marruecos y la "Ciudad Real." La capital es declarada Patrimonio de
la Humanidad por la UNESCO ya que es reconocida por su rica importancia cultural e histórica. La ciudad alberga varios monumentos importantes, como la Torre Hassan, la Necrópolis de Chellah y la Kasbah de los Udayas, todos los cuales ahora están protegidos como parte del Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la UNESCO.
Los padres de Amerie se sienten orgullosos y agradecidos de las oportunidades que brinda este país. Ellos saben que está experiencia le servirá en su preparación para su futuro. Me platicaron que conocen muy bien a su hija y con certeza pueden decir que ella se está preparando muy bien y debido a eso, no sienten mucha angustia de mandarla al extranjero. "Sabemos de su capacidad, solvencia, y madurez… Nada más que la vamos a extrañar mucho nosotros y sus hermanos."
Amerie está capacitandose mentalmente y cada día, investiga sobre el clima, comida, lugares, y la cultura en Marruecos. Como padres, José y Ruth están llenos de regocijo al ver cómo ella disfruta todo el proceso de está oportunidad y sienten una inmensa satisfacción de verla feliz. Al igual que Amerie, ellos también se emocionan por esta gran oportunidad.
Muchos padres tendrían temor de mandar a sus hijos solos al extranejor, pero José y Ruth les aconsejan a los padres que confíen en programas como estos. Ellos sugieren que aprovechen de estas oportunidades académicas que ofrece este país. Animen a sus hijos a salir de su zona de confort y siempre apoyenlos a luchar por sus sueños. A veces, estas oportunidades solo vienen una vez en la vida y no hay que dejarlas pasar.
La pareja Alvarado platica que tambien es importante confiar en sus hijos. Ellos se animaron a dejar a su hija Amerie ir a Marruecos por su dedicación y empeño al estudio y como padres siempre han creído que una buena preparación académica es el éxito de su futuro.
Sus deseos son siempre los mejores para ella y poder verla cumplir sus metas los llena de satisfacción y orgullo. Recuerdan que siempre notaban que a su hija siempre le gustó ver programas como Discovery y aprender de las civilizaciones de otros países. Sin duda alguna, saben que esta oportunidad es perfecta para ella porque está alineada con su pasión de aprender sobre otras culturas.
Cuando Amerie les dijo que iba aplicar al programa le respondieron que contaba con su apoyo al 100% y siempre la están apoyando porque creen que va poder lograr esas metas que se impone.
José y Ruth le desean la mejor a su hija. Están super orgullosos de todo lo que ha logrado y de su iniciativa de explorar el mundo. Siempre la apoyaran y están emocionados de seguir viendo como Amerie se desarrollara a medida que su visión del mundo continúa expandiéndose.

The couple is from the central south of the country. They are from the department of La Paz in El Salvador. La Paz is one of the fourteen departments that make up the Republic of El Salvador. The Alvarado family recently received news that their eldest daughter Amerie Alvarado was selected to receive a 2023-24 National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) scholarship.
The selection committee believes that Amerie meets the challenges of a rigorous language program abroad. NSLI-Y is a program of the US Department of State. It is administered by the American Councils for International Education.
The program provides intensive language study abroad for US high school students through scholarships that cover everything (flight, housing, and more). It is a great opportunity for young people to expand their worldview, cultural aptitude, and language skills.
José and Ruth's daughter will be participating in the Arabic language program and her stay will be in Rabat, Morocco. She will be there for seven weeks. Rabat is the capital of Morocco and the "'Royal City."
The capital is declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as it is recognized for its rich cultural and historical importance. The city is home to several important monuments, such as the Hassan Tower, the Chellah Necropolis and the Kasbah of the Udayas, all of which are now protected as part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Amerie's parents are proud and grateful for the opportunities this country provides. They know that this experience will help prepare her for her future. They told me that they know their daughter very well and they can certainly say that she is preparing greatly and because of that, they do not feel a lot of anguish about sending her abroad. "We know of her ability, her problem solving skills, and her maturity... The only thing that is going to be hard for us and her siblings is that we are going to miss her very much." Amerie is training herself mentally and as the days go by, she researches the weather, food, places, and culture in Morocco.
As parents, José and Ruth are overjoyed to see how she takes charge of the whole process and soaks in this amazing opportunity. The couple feels immense satisfaction to see her happy. Like Amerie, they too are excited about this great moment.
Many parents would be afraid to send their children abroad alone, but José and Ruth advise parents to trust programs like these. They suggest that they take advantage of these academic opportunities that this country offers. Encourage your children to get out of their comfort zone and always support them to fight for their dreams. Sometimes these opportunities only come once in a lifetime. Don't let these moments pass you by.
The Alvarado couple also mention that it is important to trust your children. They felt confident to let their daughter Amerie go to Morocco because of her dedication and commitment to her studies and as parents they have always believed that a good academic preparation is the success of her future.
Their hopes and desires are that their kids get the best in life. Being able to see Amerie achieve her goals fills them with satisfaction and pride. They shared that they recall their daughter always liked watching shows like Discovery and learning about the civilizations in other countries. Without a doubt, they know that this opportunity is perfect for her because it is aligned with her passion for learning about other cultures.
When Amerie told them that she was going to apply to the program, they replied that she had their support 100 percent of the way. They will always be rooting for her because they believe that she will be able to achieve those goals that she sets for herself.
