The West Liberty Voluntary Action Council wants to thank all of the individuals and groups who helped make the annual Christmas distribution successful.

One hundred seventy two families from the West Liberty School District received Christmas food boxes Dec. 16 -17. The total amount of families who had children numbered 105 with 254 children receiving toys.

Fruit sacks were delivered to fifty one senior citizens.

A total of 424 coats were given away at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the West Liberty Public Library Dec. 4 - 11. Approximately 40 coats in varying sizes are still available at the library and 80 will be donated to the school district to give to students as the need arises.

This event wouldn’t be possible without the help from the following: the Ministerial Association for organizing the church drives for winter wear, socks and underwear, the local schools and Chamber who conducted food drives, individuals and groups who donated food, toiletries and money to purchase supplies and toys, Star tree gift donors, the West Liberty State Bank and MidWestOne Bank for the Star Tree locations, Rotary coat drive, Aquarius help with toys, First Church United for the use of their facility, people who phoned recipients to schedule appointments, Lions and Rotary drivers who helped with deliveries, Girl Scouts who bagged personal items, Silver Cord students and others who helped with the drive up deliveries, and volunteers who sorted the food contributions and packed boxes.

This community has so many generous volunteers who are willing to contribute wherever needed and helped make a happier holiday season for many. Sincerely,

West Liberty Voluntary Action Council
